Koottar puts book exchanges at the centre of that culture. Every registered Space is a place where a reader can hand over a book, pick one up, and meet the person who recommended it.
We're signing up founding café partners across Dubai now. The first Spaces get featured from day one, with early foot traffic from a community of readers who are actively looking for somewhere to meet. If you run a café in Dubai and want to be part of that, register here.
A good Koottar Space is a café where people feel comfortable staying for an hour. Comfortable seating, reliable wifi, no pressure to leave. It doesn't need to be a bookshop — in fact, most of our best Spaces are neighbourhood coffee bars that already attract regulars. The books come with the people.
When you borrow a book through Koottar, you agree on a handover spot with the lender. Koottar Spaces are the suggested meeting points — they're public, welcoming, and already part of the network. You meet, hand over the book, order a coffee, and often end up talking about what you've been reading. That's the idea.
